A small ticket booth on the Quai du Président Meiffret, next to the Société Nautique, nothing particularly flashy about it. No glass-enclosed deck, no cocktail bar. Just a wooden boat, a guide with a microphone, and an hour on the water looking back at Saint-Tropez from the sea.
That angle is the one most visitors never get. From out on the bay, the village reads differently: the citadelle dropping toward the water, the villas pressed into the maquis above les Canoubiers, the yachts doing their usual performance at anchor. La Pouncho runs one-hour guided tours of the baie des Canoubiers, with commentary on the village's history, the celebrity properties, the film locations scattered along the shoreline. The crew delivers all of it with dry humour, not a rehearsed script.
Departures run throughout the day, which gives real flexibility. In July and August extra slots are added toward evening. The Premium version of the tour includes priority boarding and a cold drink. For sunset cruises, the Bastille Day fireworks, or the Voiles de Saint-Tropez regatta, special outings are organised; worth checking ahead.
What works here is the absence of pretension. The price is reasonable, the crew knows the gulf, and the late-afternoon light on the water does most of the heavy lifting. Sometimes that is exactly enough.
