A year ago, Arev opened its doors, not far from Place des Lices. Little noise, lots of buzz since. Les Echos tested this new five-star hotel, and the word 'fantasy' isn't overstating it.
The address opened on March 15, 2024, at 8, chemin des Vendanges. 35 rooms and suites at the heart of a Mediterranean garden you barely notice from the road. Madrileño designer Luis Bustamante crafted the interiors: seventies yacht-club colours, nautical stripes, bold geometry. The village's largest hotel pool, striped loungers, frozen rosé beneath the olive trees. Does it sound dreamy? That's the whole point. Arev is a contraction of the French word for dream, rêve.
The hotel is part of the new Arev Collection, launched by More Development, and it plays the old-school luxury and Riviera glamour card. You'll also find the Strand, legendary Saint-Tropez restaurant, reborn here, plus a Champagne Lounge, a bar called Q's Bar, a padel court and a spa by Maison S.T. Everything is designed so you never need to leave, and yet Place des Lices is a seven-minute walk.
Rooms are spacious, colours vivid, light everywhere. The detail? The hotel's name comes from the French rêver, to dream, except that in Armenian, arev means sun. We'd like to believe it's a coincidence.
The welcome leans on a house tone. Not really a check-in, more a 'welcome home'. Remains to be seen whether the village will accept a sixth palace without grumbling. For now, TripAdvisor reviews are glowing, locals curious, and Les Echos clearly charmed.
