When night falls over the carrefour de la Foux, the neon lights flicker on. Azur Park comes to life. One of the rare permanent funfairs in France, and probably the only one that wakes up after sunset. An evening amusement park, as they say around here.
Thirty-five rides spread across more than six hectares. From the Ferris wheel that towers over the peninsula to the ghost train, and the Sky Rider that catapults the boldest into the air. There are roller coasters, bumper cars, a 1900 carousel, thrill rides for those who like to scream, and gentle attractions for the little ones. The full funfair repertoire, permanent and nocturnal version.
Entry is free, parking too. You pay per ride (between 5 and 12€) or buy one of the four passes. Handy if you come with family: kids chain the rides without pulling out the credit card every time. Next to the attractions, two tropical mini-golf courses with plastic dinosaurs dotted in the scenery (open from noon, before the rides). And a rotisserie where the pig turns on the spit, because after three spins on the centrifuge, you need something substantial.
Azur Park opens in April and closes end of September. Hours vary by month: 6pm in April-May, 7pm in June, 7:30pm in July-August. The atmosphere builds as the season advances. July and August, it closes at 1am. Families arrive early evening, teenagers hang around until closing. It's the gulf's nocturnal meeting point, where you'll find as many locals as tourists from Ramatuelle or Saint-Tropez.
