A dozen covers. That is genuinely all. Marcel cooks, his wife runs the room, and what passes for a menu is three dishes chalked on a slate board that changes nightly. Soupe au pistou, caillette, roasted peach with thyme: Provençal cooking in its most direct form, no staging, no flourish, nothing designed to impress.
The wine is a small aligoté from a vineyard in La Môle. The sort of bottle you would not find on any conventional restaurant list. You leave for 38 euros, food and wine. In this village, that is not a deal. It is closer to a small miracle.
La Table de Marcel opens Monday through Saturday from 19h30 and stays closed on Sundays. The address is 3 rue des Féniers. And do book, properly, not as an afterthought: regulars hold their tables weeks out, the room is so small that a walk-in seat on any given evening is more luck than strategy. Call ahead, and if no one picks up, call again.
